langlea garden design & Construction - special AWard WINNER 2018

victorian flavour

This newly created garden successfully combines a Victorian flavour with contemporary materials to provide another ‘room’ for a newly renovated Victorian house.

Gnarled, mature olive trees add presence and provide privacy from neighbouring properties, and Victorian-style panelling, reflecting the style of the kitchen and bi-fold doors leading to the garden, cleverly conceals a generously sized bike store where the client, a keen cyclist, can store his six bikes securely and safely.

Porcelain paving with refined detailing defines two gravel ‘comfort’ areas for the client’s dogs and mesh beneath the ground-level planted areas prevents them from digging up the plants. An in-situ concrete raised planter provides a backrest to a porcelain-clad seat with Victorian-style feet made from reclaimed balustrades. A feature brass backdrop enhances the planting.
