Overview The Landscape Group is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park which spans 200ha in Stratford, East London and specifically the management of horticulture, cleansing and waste management, waterways, play and irrigation. Managing a park on this scale with such a diverse range of open spaces, facilities, events and social responsibility commitments is no mean feat. Following a procurement process, The Landscape Group was selected as grounds maintenance partner in early 2012 in alliance with Cofely Workplace as facilities management partner delivering the comprehensive estates and facilities management contract. The Landscape Group team moved onto site in September 2012 to help monitor the transformation works. As a contracting partner of the London Legacy Development Corporation, The Landscape Group has committed to the values and objectives of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Judges’ comments It is important the company responsible for the maintenance of this successful public park and visitor attraction fully understands the legacy of the landscape they are maintaining. This is the case with this contractor who is upholding the ethos of the landscape. All borders are kept weed free and the planting palette and colours are being carefully maintained. Areas of wildflower meadow are good and lawn areas are healthy and correctly cut. The overall standard of maintenance is excellent, aided by the control of the public who use the park.
