Overview The client for this project was the Government of Gibraltar; the brief was the design and creation of the first public park in Gibraltar since the Alameda was opened in 1816. The design of the park had to link back to its British roots and have a colonial feel with a large open grass area, a bandstand, a formal water feature and an informal water feature. These elements had to reflect traditional British parks and values as well as creating a Mediterranean atmosphere. The design of the park needed to be sympathetic so the multifunctional use that was expected of the space, as well as making it an environmentally aware and sustainable park.
